Jargon is specialist language that is specific to an activity, hobby, profession, academic subject, or trade. In order for specialist language to be considered 'jargon' it needs to exclude people who don't understand it.

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to give you an update on the Learning Hub at the moment because I want to be as transparent as possible!

There were some issues with the plugin I was using to connect the Community to the Learning Hub, so I had to switch to a different one!

That unfortunately means that things will take a little while longer to process! 😔 It also means that I won't be able to have it so that you can log in on here and be automatically logged on in the Learning Hub anymore! It creates two different accounts with two different passwords for you!

So if you've purchased recently, please do bear with me! Give it a little while and then try 'Forgot Password'.

If all else fails, you can use the Submit Ticket button in your shop account to make sure I know there are problems right away!

Either Patrick C. or I am on to check tickets daily, so we'll get back to you ASAP!

Hi everyone!

For our Maths students out there, our webinar on the Basics of Algebra starts in 1 hour! The meeting link is now available on the event page: https://shanistutoring.com/community/event/the-basics-of-algebra

We look forward to seeing you there! Remember: people who show up to the session will get a free copy of the webinar afterwards for you to watch at your own pace!

Hi all!

Just a reminder that the first A-level Maths revision webinar is happening tomorrow at 10am! Join in to get some great FREE revision! Also make sure to recommend friends!

Hi all!

I'm just reaching out to ask if any of you know anyone who would like to join this community?

Right now, we're in the process of creating as many FREE webinars as possible, as I decided that ALL webinars for this exam season would be free for the live session! So as long as you come along, you'll get the initial session along with a recording afterwards for free!

But there's no point in running webinars if no one is going to show up! So, the more people who join the community and show they're interested in coming along for one of the webinars, the more frequently we'll hold them!

It would also help you and us in other ways:

  • The more people who join, the more people will be able to ask questions that we can answer.
  • We'll spend more time on this community, answering more questions and providing more resources.
  • We'll have a better understanding of your needs, so we'll be able to make better resources for you.

So, if you know someone who's studying any of the subjects we offer, please do share a link with them! We'll be able to grow this place together!

Hi all!

I recently announced that we're going to be running webinars and said that you'd be able to get a free ticket to the paid ones if you invited a friend to the community and they joined.

If you're wondering how you can prove you invited them, there is a way! It's a little fiddly, so I thought I'd give you a little tutorial!

Step 1: Choose a space

Choose a space that you'd like to invite your friend to and click on it.

Step 2: Click on the 'Members' tab

Now, once you're in the space you'd like to invite someone to, click on the 'Members' tab there.

Step 3: Click on the 'Invitations' button

This is where you'll be able to see the existing invitations! Click on that tab.

Step 4: Click 'New Invitation Link'

This is where you'll be able to make your invitation.

Step 5: Add the details to generate your invitation link

Now you can add the details you need in order to generate an invitation link! You can use this as many times as you want and for as many people as possible.

I'm currently looking into ways to reward people with tutoring discounts if they invite the most people!

I really do appreciate every single invitation I get on here. I'm trying to make this community as useful and vibrant as possible, so every new person is a huge help!

The people who have joined recently and use the space have been absolutely irreplacable, so I'm hoping we can get more of them!

Hi all!

I've got an exciting platform update for all of you: we're now launching spaces for Maths and Physics!

We're delighted to welcome ALI A. to our team. He's a Maths and Physics teacher with 15 years of experience. He's going to be managing the following spaces:

He's also going to be running some free revision webinars for A-level maths to help people prepare for their exams! We're just in the process of setting up some dates and topics.

If you join a maths webinar and you like the way he teaches, his bookings will be open very soon for one-to-one and group tutoring sessions, too! Plus, courses are being built in the background to help you revise at your own pace.

If you have a friend or loved one who is studying any of those subjects, please do let them know about us! We want to make this space a thriving hub to help you understand the subject and grow!

If you have any suggestions for webinars that would help you, please head over to the correct space and post there! Or you can post any recommendations in the comments.
