OCR English Literature NEA: Task 2 - Comparative

Yes! This course comes with three rounds of feedback to ensure you know how you're doing so far and what you can work on.

OCR has a strict requirement saying that your classroom teacher can only offer you one round of feedback. That's to stop teachers from editing the coursework so much that it basically becomes their work (this mainly happens in private schools where they have smaller class sizes).

However, I'm a tutor, not your classroom teacher! And we follow strict guidelines about what kind of feedback we give you. I'm also not the one marking your final piece. All of that means things are slightly different for this course.

But in short, we don't do the work for you, tell you what to write, give you the wording for your essay, or offer proofreading and editing. This is for four main reasons:

1. We care about morality and academic integrity. People should only submit work that's their own.

2. NEAs are a really good opportunity to hone your skills for your final exam. You can't do that if it's not your essay!

3. Independent redrafting is an essential skill that everyone should learn.

4. Writing the essay for you (either in part or in full) would make us an Essay Mill, which are against the law.

Instead, we tell you what to fix and why. We offer whole-essay points on things you can work on holistically. Then, we pinpoint specific areas that need work, tell you why we've flagged them and give you suggestions on how to improve (e.g. 'How does this quote show insecurity? Add more language analysis to explain that').

At Shani's Tutoring, our goal is to empower you to do your best work. Fixing your essay for you would go against that mission.

We make sure the course is laid out so that you know exactly how to fix your essays once you get the feedback. You'll be following us along the way as we write our own NEA essay, so you'll be able to see exactly how our thought processes and advice translates on the page. Then, we provide plenty of model essays, as well as exemplars that show all the common student essay mistakes with advice on how to fix them.

Plus, we have course discussions and question spaces where you can engage with other NEA students and check with a tutor if you're on the right track.

Plus, as well as the three submission points, you'll also get another assignment where you can submit your plan for extra review.

We aim to have the most comprehensive NEA course on the market. We've invented this course to take you through every single part of the NEA text selection process, from choosing your book to analysis to your final edits. We also offer three rounds of feedback.

So, we've carefully considered the time and energy going into this course from our end. If we were delivering a course of this depth to you in one-to-one sessions, we estimate it would take us about 30 hours of lesson time. At our current rate, that would be £1650.

We understand that this is a very high price, though, and we want to offer high-level NEA tutoring to as many students as possible. £1650 is not in everyone's price range! So, we decided to cut down on the tutoring time by making two thirds of the work asynchronous – the stuff that you don't need us sitting in front of you to do. We're still available via the comments and forum! But we're not teaching the content live.

That means, we can focus on the places where you really need us to help you and offer it for less than a third of the usual price.
