Changes to Policies

Hi all!

We're doing a blanket edit of all the policies on the main website right now.

Nothing major is changing! It's more about ensuring the policies match the new website format. Here's what we're doing:

  • Explicitly adding this community space to our policies. They have always said that the rules apply to all Shani's Tutoring branded spaces, but we wanted to ensure the community is clearly signposted.
  • Changing formatting to match the new layouts. We got rid of a bunch of plugins and changed our website theme to improve the performance and accessibility. That means we had to rethink the design of the policies a little.
  • Creating and populating the Help Hub. We've added a Help Hub to explain our policies in plain English. We're slowly adding explanations of our policies to this hub.
  • Explaining that we will use this space to update you on changes. Before, we didn't have a clear space to notify community members of changes to the policies. We said we'd use the Learning Hub and email, but now we have this specific space for it. We're updating our policies to say we're going to notify through this space.

Of course, if there are significant changes to any of the policies that will impact you (e.g. changes to how we deliver services or take payments, or changes to our Code of Conduct), we will make sure to keep you updated on them!

If you have any questions or comments, please do share them below!

Shani C.

Update: We're still in the process of making some of these updates! We want them to be as fair, comprehensive and easy to understand as possible, so it's taking longer than we anticipated.

Don't worry! The changes aren't huge. Mostly, I'm doing what I said above in the post, as well as giving more examples and making the definitions of certain behaviours more clear and understandable.

If anything major changes, I'll be sure to post here and on the Learning Hub to let you know. And as always, while we may edit or delete content that no longer fits the rules, we will never punish you retroactively for something if it wasn't against the rules when you did it! Unless you're actively hurting someone, of course.
