Here on Shani’s Tutoring, I’m always looking for ways to make studying for English more rewarding. So, I’ve created two different points system: Ink points and Merit points.
Ink points help to make my resources more affordable by allowing you to partially pay for the products you want to buy in my store.
Merit points are more competitive. You get them for things like passing quizzes and trying my revision games. They all go to a leaderboard that you can check out at all times!
That means I reward you both for participating and for doing well. If you try hard, you get lots of Ink points. If you succeed, you get Merit points! However, if you abuse the system, you lose both types of points.
This guide will teach you all you need to know about Ink points, including how you can get them and what you can use them for.
How Do You Earn Ink Points? #
There are many ways that you can earn Ink points. However, almost all of them are about engaging with the community. You get one per day when you log on. Plus, you get rewarded for helping me to make the Forums a friendly, open place. For example, I give points to people who review products they bought!
Be careful, though: you can lose points for antisocial behaviour, too. That includes breaking the rules and spamming.
I know that you might be excited about earning things from my shop. However, please be mindful that this is a friendly community. I won’t tolerate anyone ruining the vibe by spamming or breaking the rules.
This list below shows you the things that will automatically get you Ink points. It will update any time I add new ways to earn them!

There are actions that will make me manually remove points from your account, too. For example, if you are caught breaking our rules, I will be removing Ink points from your account. The number of Ink points you lose is based on how bad your action was and how many times you’ve been reported before.
What Do You Do With Them? #
Ink points give you some great value. You can use them to pay for up to 50% of any one-time purchase in the shop.
100 Ink points are equivalent to £1. The more you engage with the community, the more you can pay for in the shop!
If you want to buy a £10 book from my shop, it would cost you 500 Ink points to get a 50% discount.
This is a win-win for both of us. That’s because I get to reward you for being a valued part of the community with big discounts on your purchases.
Right now, you can’t use your Ink points on courses or memberships. However, this is the big long-term dream. I want people to be able to pay for my services by being valued members of my community. So, I’m working on it right now!
I’ll let you know when I have any updates on that front.
