About Me

Hi there!

My name is Shani and I have been a tutor for five years.

I went to The Latymer School for sixth form and then enrolled at The University of Glasgow to study for an M.A. in History. To supplement my studies, I also completed two years of English Literature, a year of English Language and Politics and beginners courses in Japanese and French.

In addition to my university degree, I also completed a TEFL qualification and am currently working towards a second Level 5 TEFL Diploma, a Level 4 Diploma in Proofreading and Editing, and a Level 4 Diploma in Copywriting. Also, I have completed supplementary courses in Teaching English to Young Learners, Teaching Business English and Teaching English Online.

I worked as a Tutor for MyTutor where I worked with students from the age of 11 to 18. My focus was on English Language and Literature, in particular essay writing and exam preparation.

During my time with MyTutor, I have been lucky enough to become a Premium Tutor with them and be part of the fantastic Schools Programme in which they provide one-to-one sessions to struggling students within their school setting.

During my summers at university, I was also fortunate to be able to tutor Year Five and Six students in Maths, English and Science. During this time, I perfected my Early Essays technique. I would ask my students to pick an age-appropriate book to read. Then, we would work on an essay together, looking at the contents and message of their chosen story.

I have worked for the MailOnline as a Video Syndication Researcher and Newsflare as an archive researcher. As well as this, I have worked as an Intern for Estée Lauder, Splash News and Corbis. I am currently working full-time as a Marketing and Accounts Assistant.

In my spare time, I love to write. I wrote a fantasy story called The Queen of Freaks for Episode Interactive and amassed over 250,000 reads. I have now dedicated my time to giving advice to budding young writers through my other website, ShanniiWrites, and the ShanniiWrites Forums. I am also currently working with Radish Fiction to produce a new fantasy fiction story, and I hope to become a writer with Tales Writer very soon.
